What You'll Do

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you'll perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, and outstanding patient care.


Clinical Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by reviewing medical history, completing required documentation, and explaining the exam process.
  • Perform venipuncture for radiopharmaceutical administration.
  • Prepare, measure, and safely administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with physician orders and radiation safety guidelines.
  • Position patients accurately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures using departmental protocols.
  • Review image quality and transmit completed studies to PACS for radiologist interpretation.
  • Monitor patients throughout imaging procedures to ensure comfort and safety.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding examination procedures and post-procedure instructions.


Radiation Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain accurate radiation safety records and documentation.
  • Perform routine quality control testing and equipment performance checks.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.


Department Operations

  • Coordinate patient scheduling and collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Participate in rotating on-call coverage to support 24-hour imaging services.
  • Maintain inventory, rotate supplies, and utilize departmental resources efficiently.
  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols.
  • Assist with orienting and mentoring new team members when assigned.


What We're Looking For

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology program

Certification

One of the following is required:

  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Nuclear Medicine Certification

Licensure

  • Current Kentucky State Nuclear Medicine License/Certification

Life Support

  • Current BLS Certification


Preferred Skills

  • Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures
  • Radiopharmaceutical preparation and administration
  • Venipuncture
  • PACS imaging systems
  • Siemens Nuclear Medicine software
  • Electronic patient registration systems
  • Radiation safety compliance
  • Quality assurance testing
  • Excellent patient communication and education
