Position Overview
Domnovate Healthcare is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a full-time contract assignment with a hospital-based diagnostic imaging department in Pikeville, Kentucky.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures, administer radiopharmaceuticals, obtain high-quality diagnostic images, maintain required radiation safety documentation, and provide professional, compassionate care throughout each patient examination.
The initial contract is scheduled to continue through January 9, 2027. This position may be extended indefinitely based upon facility need, performance, and mutual agreement.
Compensation
- $55.00–$60.00 per hour
- Final compensation will be based on relevant nuclear medicine experience, certifications, schedule availability, and overall fit for the assignment.
- Overtime, on-call, and callback compensation will be paid according to the applicable compensation structure and assignment terms.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for nuclear medicine examinations by reviewing medical history, completing required questionnaires, and confirming appropriate preparation.
- Explain examination procedures to patients and family members and answer questions regarding the imaging process.
- Perform venipuncture as required for nuclear medicine procedures.
- Measure, prepare, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and radiation safety requirements.
- Position patients accurately to obtain the required diagnostic views.
- Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures according to established departmental protocols.
- Monitor patients throughout imaging procedures to promote safety, comfort, and a positive patient experience.
- Review completed images for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Send completed imaging studies to PACS for radiologist interpretation.
- Maintain accurate patient examination records, histories, and procedural documentation.
- Complete required documentation for radiation safety programs and equipment testing.
- Perform routine quality-control testing and equipment-performance checks.
- Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment safely and effectively.
- Identify equipment concerns and assist with troubleshooting or reporting maintenance needs.
- Schedule patients and coordinate with other hospital departments to support efficient patient flow.
- Participate in rotating call assignments as needed to support 24-hour imaging coverage.
- Maintain, organize, and rotate departmental supplies.
- Use equipment, supplies, and departmental resources in a cost-effective manner.
- Follow all hospital policies regarding infection prevention, safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and treat patients and families with dignity and respect.
- Assist with the orientation and training of new employees when assigned.
- Meet all department-specific competency requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
Certification
Candidates must hold one of the following:
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board certification, or NMTCB
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in Nuclear Medicine, or ARRT(N)
State Certification
- Current Kentucky state certification or licensure required to perform nuclear medicine procedures.
Life Support
- Current Basic Life Support certification, or BLS.
Required Skills and Experience
- Ability to safely operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment.
- Knowledge of nuclear medicine imaging procedures and protocols.
- Experience preparing, measuring, and administering radiopharmaceuticals.
- Venipuncture proficiency.
- Understanding of radiation safety standards, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to assess imaging studies for diagnostic quality and completeness.
- Experience working with PACS.
- Knowledge of electronic patient registration systems.
- Experience with Siemens nuclear medicine software.
- Strong patient communication and education skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to imaging quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Willingness and ability to participate in rotating call coverage.
