What You'll Do
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you'll perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, and outstanding patient care.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by reviewing medical history, completing required documentation, and explaining the exam process.
- Perform venipuncture for radiopharmaceutical administration.
- Prepare, measure, and safely administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with physician orders and radiation safety guidelines.
- Position patients accurately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures using departmental protocols.
- Review image quality and transmit completed studies to PACS for radiologist interpretation.
- Monitor patients throughout imaging procedures to ensure comfort and safety.
- Educate patients and their families regarding examination procedures and post-procedure instructions.
Radiation Safety & Quality Assurance
- Maintain accurate radiation safety records and documentation.
- Perform routine quality control testing and equipment performance checks.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
Department Operations
- Coordinate patient scheduling and collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Participate in rotating on-call coverage to support 24-hour imaging services.
- Maintain inventory, rotate supplies, and utilize departmental resources efficiently.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to infection prevention and safety protocols.
- Assist with orienting and mentoring new team members when assigned.
What We're Looking For
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology program
Certification
One of the following is required:
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Nuclear Medicine Certification
Licensure
- Current Kentucky State Nuclear Medicine License/Certification
Life Support
- Current BLS Certification
Preferred Skills
