Travel Physical Therapist

AMN Healthcare connects skilled clinicians with hospitals and clinics that need them most. As a Travel Physical Therapist you restore mobility, reduce pain, and send patients home stronger—while exploring new cities and working with the industry’s most trusted staffing partner.

Performance Objectives

  • Complete comprehensive evaluations and start evidence-based treatment plans within 48 hours of every assignment start so patients begin measurable progress immediately.
  • Deliver 30+ skilled treatment sessions per week that meet or exceed facility functional-outcome targets (e.g., FIM, TUG, 6MWT) on 13-week contracts.
  • Document every encounter in the host EMR the same day, achieving 100% compliance and zero billing delays.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and case managers to discharge 90% of caseload to the least-restrictive setting on or before projected dates.
  • Onboard to each new facility in under two days, mastering local protocols and equipment so patient care never pauses.
  • Mentor facility staff on best-practice techniques, leaving a lasting clinical impact after you complete the assignment.

Environment & Resources

You report to a dedicated AMN recruiter and clinical liaison who handle licensing, housing, travel, and 24/7 support. Assignments last 8–13 weeks at top hospitals and outpatient centers nationwide. AMN provides a housing stipend or furnished housing, malpractice coverage, and an intuitive mobile app for credentialing and payroll. Typical caseload: 10–14 patients per day with full access to gym, modalities, and EMR systems.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted PT license (or compact privilege) plus eligibility for additional state licenses within 2 weeks.
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (or equivalent) and 1+ year of recent acute, ortho, or neuro experience.
  • Proven ability to independently manage a full caseload and hit functional-outcome goals in a fast-paced setting.
  • Willingness to travel and start new assignments with 2–4 weeks’ notice.
  • BLS certification and clean background/drug screen.

Role Selling Points

  • Exclusive access to high-paying contracts at Magnet hospitals and leading health systems.
  • Industry-leading pay packages, tax-free stipends, and day-one medical/dental/vision.
  • Licensure reimbursement, free CEUs, and a clinical team that has your back 24/7.
  • Choose your next adventure—coastal cities, mountain towns, or hometowns—while building a résumé that opens doors everywhere.
