Warehouse General Manager – Cold Storage Food Processing – Direct Hire

SALARY RANGE

$140,000–$150,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications

JOB SUMMARY

An established food processing and protein distribution operation in the Los Angeles area is seeking an experienced Warehouse General Manager to lead temperature-controlled warehouse operations supporting fresh and frozen meat products.

This role provides overall leadership for receiving, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping operations, and workforce performance within refrigerated and freezer environments. The position is responsible for maintaining cold-chain integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance, improving operational efficiency, and supporting service-level performance across distribution activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead all warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping

- Maintain cold-chain integrity across cooler and freezer environments

- Oversee refrigeration coordination and material handling equipment performance

- Supervise warehouse supervisors, leads, and hourly staff

- Manage staffing plans, scheduling, productivity expectations, and labor utilization

- Ensure compliance with HACCP, USDA requirements, and food safety programs

- Enforce OSHA safety standards including PPE and cold-environment procedures

- Maintain accurate inventory using FIFO and FEFO rotation practices

- Oversee WMS usage for inventory tracking and workflow efficiency

- Lead cycle counts, physical inventory processes, and discrepancy resolution

- Maintain sanitation programs and audit readiness

- Track KPIs including order accuracy, shrink, productivity, labor performance, and on-time shipments

- Partner with transportation, QA, customer service, and operations teams to meet service objectives

- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and product integrity

REQUIREMENTS

- 7+ years of warehouse leadership experience in food processing, cold storage, or protein distribution environments

- Experience managing refrigerated and freezer warehouse operations

- Experience leading supervisors and multi-shift warehouse teams

- Strong understanding of inventory control practices including lot tracking and product rotation

- Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS)

- Knowledge of food safety compliance requirements in regulated environments

- Ability to manage performance in fast-paced distribution settings

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience supporting USDA-regulated food facilities

- Experience working with fresh or frozen meat, poultry, or protein products

- HACCP knowledge or food safety program exposure

- Experience supporting audit readiness initiatives

- Background in high-volume foodservice or wholesale distribution operations

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position includes time in office, refrigerated warehouse, and freezer storage environments typical of protein processing and distribution operations. Exposure to material handling equipment, cold temperatures, and active shipping operations should be expected.
